Paris 2024: Highlights of Day 2's top medals

World marks smashed at Stade de France Rising over the previous men's 5000m T11 world record by more than five seconds, Brazil's Julio Cesar Agripino dos Santos grabbed the first Para athletics gold medal of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

In the men's long jump T11, Di Dongdong of China shattered a 10-year-old world record to defend his Paralympic title.

One throw was all Poland's Roza Kozakowska needed to win gold in the F32 women's club throw. Her first throw set a new world record; she withdrew from the tournament following her second due a dislocated shoulder.

Claiming her fifth consecutive Paralympic shot throw gold, Tunisia's Raoua Tlili was the frontrunner in the women's shot throw F41.

Tlili added, "This medal is the most important since it's not easy for me". "For those with a short stature particularly, you need a lot of energy and lots of strength training to be able to throw in the shot throw."

Petrucio Ferreira dos Santos of Brazil bounced back to win his third consecutive Paralympic gold in the men's 100m T47, having lost his heat earlier in the day.

"I was quite young in Rio and won this event; it was fantastic. I am a three-time champion now; I have no words to fit this. I am quite content.

The first-ever Paralympic medal France's Tanguy de La Forest won was silver in the R4 mixed 10-meter air rifle standing final. De La Forest's sixth Paralympic Games in Paris 2024
