Canada Thursday schedule for Paris Paralympics 2024

Canada Thursday schedule: The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games began on Wednesday. Katarina Roxon and Patrick Anderson carried the Canadian Paralympic Team’s flag into the Opening Ceremony. Now it’s time for competition. On the first day of play in Paris, Canadians competed in nine sports. Take a look at what the Canadian Paralympic Team did on Day 1 of the Paris 2024 Games, Thursday, August 29:

Para Swimming

At 9:30 a.m. CEST (3:30 a.m. ET), the action will begin at the La Défense Arena pool, with seven Canadians racing in heats. Aurelie Rivard, who has won 10 Paralympic medals, is one of them. Arianna Hunsicker and Katie Cosgriffe, who are both new to the Paralympics, will be swimming with her in the women’s 50m freestyle S10. In the women’s 50m freestyle S6 event, Shelby Newkirk will race. This is the event she won bronze in at the 2023 World Championships.

Canada Thursday schedule

In the women’s 200m freestyle S5, Clemence Pare and Hannah Ouellette will both be swimming for the first time. Fernando Lu will be swimming in the men’s 50m freestyle S10.

Para Cycling Track

Kate O’Brien and Keeley Shaw are the first para cyclists from Canada to race at the velodrome. Both will be in the 500-meter time trial for women in the C4-5 category. O’Brien got a silver award in Tokyo three years ago.

Sitting Volleyball

The Canadian women won silver at the world championships in 2022 and came in fourth place at the Tokyo Paralympics, which was their best finish to date.

Goalball

Boccia

All four of Canada’s boccia players are in opening play on Thursday. Alison Levine, who won two gold medals at the Parapan Ams, has two matches.

The Canadian women’s wheelchair basketball team came in fifth place at the 2023 World Championships. Their first game will be against China in Paris in 2024.

Para-Badminton

Yuka Chokyu has been to three Paralympics in wheelchair tennis. On Thursday, she will play her first game of badminton at the Games. In the women’s singles WH1 group stage, she will play Hu Guang-Chiu of Chinese Taipei.
