The record-breaking rookie season of Angel Reese came more than two weeks ahead of schedule.
The Chicago Sky attacker revealed on Saturday that she will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to an injury.
Later on, her team disclosed that the problem stems from a wrist injury sustained on Friday during the Los Angeles Sparks game.
Reese will end her rookie season with the most single-season rebounds by a WNBA player — not rookie, player — in history, barring Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson
With six games remaining in the season, Wilson is at 406, while Reese presently has 446.
In addition, Reese set rookie records for the most double-doubles (26), as well as the WNBA record for consecutive double-doubles (10).
Alyssa Thomas's record of 28 may have also been beaten by her if she had played a few more games.
That output would have put Reese in the lead for Rookie of the Year in any other season, but it appears that this year it will only serve to further establish her as a competitor to Caitlin Clark,
Indiana Fever star should win the award, the contest between Clark and Reese may be the most competitive in the league's history, and the extra games will only benefit her.
