Billy Crudup thought of his wife Naomi Watts as he accepted his Emmy on Sunday, Sept. 15.
The Morning Show star, 56, spoke exclusively to PEOPLE at the Apple TV+ Emmys Party after the 2024 Emmy Awards about his reaction to winning the award for outstanding supporting actor in a drama series.
“Don't black out, don't throw up, kiss my wife,” the actor jokes to PEOPLE. When asked if he managed those three things, Crudup says, “Yep!”
Watts, 55, who was nominated for Feud: Capote vs. the Swans, tells PEOPLE she felt “pure excitement” for her husband. “I was very proud of him and he works really hard on this character and loves the material, so I just felt really happy for him,” she says.
"At this point in my career, to get the opportunity to play a character like this, that people respond to, and test the limits of my ability, it's really rare," he says of his win. My friends are all actors.
I'm grateful to be in the midst of my life and have this possibility, because it's rare.”
Crudup received his second Emmy for playing UBA president Cory Ellison in the Apple TV+ series, following his 2020 win.
