Bremen High School football player hospitalized after catastrophic game injuries.
Bremen, Georgia— After a Friday game injury, a Bremen High School quarterback is in high spirits.
During Friday's rivalry game against Bowdon High School, Carson Kimball suffered a catastrophic spine injury that disabled his legs. Grady Memorial Hospital operated on him, and he is healing.
EMS and Bremen Fire Rescue arrived after Kimball was tackled on the field. BHS Principal Tim Huff told FOX 5 Atlanta Kimball was clearly wounded when he fell.
"It was packed, standing room only, and it was completely silent for probably 20 minutes, just like they were the EMTs, you know, got him stabilized on a backboard, and they brought the the man out to pick him up," he added.
"Nothing malicious happened. He's a good kid who was just playing football, a game he loves, and it didn't appear that bad so it's hard to explain."
But the harm was grave. Huff claims Carson's C-6 neck vertebrae were seriously damaged. Carson's father replied that his son had surgery on Saturday and "has not returned feeling to his lower body yet" and "has a lengthy rehabilitation ahead.
"Huff claimed the surgery was successful. "He passed a couple of tests the hospital gave him today, he can eat and drink on his own now which is great."
