Paris Korban Best, 21, of Southlake, Texas, became a Paralympian Friday night at the Stade de France. The T47 100-meter sprint was his Paralympic debut, as he ran a personal best 10.75 seconds.
Best won a silver thanks to his speed and personality on the track.
Long-awaited Paralympic glory for Best. Born with right arm ulnar dysplasia, he loved running and learned he had a gift. He is a rising U.S. Paralympics track and field star because to his hard effort.
Best dances before races and is nicknamed as ‘Baby Bro’ by his teammates because to his quirky nature, twitchy speed, and diminutive body.
Best stated, “I’m everyone’s little bro.” "I'm the irritating younger brother. I joke around, dance when I shouldn't, and give coach a lot of crap, but that's just me being silly and adding energy to practice every day.”
Best grew better all day. His 10.78-second preliminary heat time was a personal best.
“I feel great,” Best remarked post-race. “Taking the world stage and causing a ripple effect like I did my first year in Para was incredible. I desired gold. We'll win at home in LA with silver, the next best thing.”
In his brief time with Team USA, he has developed deep friendships with his teammates, and his optimistic attitude and leadership have inspired others to thrive.
Tripping just short of the finish line, Taylor Swanson had a terrible race. She crossed to crowd cheers.
