The first Para Sport Awards were announced in Manama, Bahrain on Wednesday (27 September).
The 2023 awards honored athletes, coaches, volunteers, and IPC members who strengthened Para sports globally.
Murray's remarkable 2022 season included five world titles. Her first road race was the 2022 UCI Para Cycling Road World Championships in August, when she won silver and bronze in the C5 class. Two months later, she won two world crowns in the Para Cycling Track World Championships.
Barlaam stood out among summer sports competitors with a tenth career world record and six world titles in one year. The 23-year-old excelled at the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships. He won six gold medals, set four world and two European records, and helped Italy win the medals table.
Masters won all seven of her events in Beijing 2022, including two golds in Para biathlon and one in Para cross-country skiing, becoming the most decorated US winter Paralympian.
This brought her Olympic gold tally to seven, including two Para cycling golds from Tokyo 2020.
At Beijing 2022, Farmer helped Team USA win their fourth consecutive Para ice hockey gold.
The 25-year-old forward topped the competition with 18 points and set a national record for most points and assists in a Paralympic Winter Games in his third appearance.
