The Paris 2024 Paralympics have sold more than 2.15 million tickets, therefore preparing the ground for an unprecedented Games.
Following the first day of competition in the French city, the Paris 2024 Organising Committee sold more tickets than the Rio 2016 Paralympics.
Comprising 549 medal events across 22 sports, the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games span 28 August to 8 September. Starting at EUR 15, 2.8 million tickets in total are on sale.
London 2012 is the top Paralympic Games in terms of sales with 2.7 million tickets; Rio 2016 comes second with 2.1 million tickets sold.
"We have gone above (our sales for Rio 2016 today," IPC Chief Brand and Communications Officer Craig Spence said. Beijing 2008 attracted 3.4 million visitors,
although just 1.6 million of those tickets were sold. Tokyo 2020 would have been our first sold-out Paralympic Games free from the epidemic, I am sure of.
"It's a fantastic result - 2.1 million tickets is a lot of tickets," Paris 2024 Director General Etienne Thobois stated.
For comparison, a big event like a Rugby World Cup has the same ticket count. Five Roland-Garkos at once. The count is rather large.
