British Para archer talks on juggling parenthood and work as well as her wishes for a break in the quiet on women's concerns.
Jodie Grinham of Great Britain is said to be the first-ever Paralympic athlete to publicly be pregnant while competing, therefore demonstrating that women everywhere can combine family and career.
Grinham, who is competing in Para archery, has been candid about her path through reproductive problems, pregnancy losses, a horrific first pregnancy, and now she is competing at the highest level of the sport.
She's not easy to miss with her pink hair, but she will also be the only Para athlete vying with a rather clear pregnancy bump.
She debuted at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, earning a silver medal with her partner, but a fall resulting in a fractured right elbow, wrist, knee, and ankle caused her to miss Tokyo.
"there's rather strange if you're an athlete and you're a female, if you want children, there is a continual question of 'when am I going to be able to time this?' Is there anything I could do? Grinham replied.
The Zika virus and associated hazards had convinced her against trying to conceive through Rio 2016, hence she and her spouse opted to wait until after Tokyo 2020.
" Clearly, we already delayed trying for a baby with damaging everything and then postponing the Games. Then we experienced problems conceiving, which was devastating." She stated.
