On Sunday, the Paris 2024 Paralympics ended a great season of sports in the French city with a glittering celebration.
For 4,400 athletes from 168 Paralympic delegations at the Stade de France, 24 French electronic music artists created a party atmosphere amid heavy rain.
"France had a date with history, and the country showed up" and 2024 will be "etched in people's memories" said former Olympic canoeist Estanguet.
IPC president Andrew Parsons called France a "benchmark" for future Games.
"For a country famous for its fashion and its food, France is now famous for its fans," added.
The Paralympic flame's cauldron, shaped like a hot air balloon, couldn't fly from the Tuileries Gardens on Sunday because to heavy winds and rain, organizers said.
French boccia player Aurelie Aubert extinguished the Paralympic flame with host country athletes.
In the downpour, Paris partied as French electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre, 76, played an hour-long set with many DJs.
Broadway actress Ali Stoker sang the American national anthem at the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics’ closing ceremony.
American rapper Anderson Paak performed on Venice Beach to hype the upcoming Games in Los Angeles.
