Sabrina Carpenter got her first VMA! Carpenter, 25, won the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards for her popular single "Espresso."
"I've literally never won one of these," she said in her winning speech. "This is really special."
Carpenter added, "The first people I want to thank are the fans," to cheers, then quipped, "If you clap after everything I say they're gonna, they're gonna call me off the stage, so one second."
"But I just want to say you guys are the reason that I get to do what I love, but also the reason that we get to have so much fun and share music with each other," she said. "I am extremely grateful for the world's best fans. As corny as it sounds, I love you."
She thanked her managers, family, "cats and dogs that are at home watching," and "Espresso" co-writers Steph Jones, Amy Allen, and Julian Bunetta as she ended her address. I adore you guys very much. I adore making music with you and can't wait to share more."
Carpenter ended her speech with a sly "And thank you to that's that me espresso."
The 25-year-old "Fast Times" singer released "Espresso" from her sixth and latest studio album Short n' Sweet in April. The single reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the album topped the Hot 200 for two weeks after its August release.
