Sabrina Carpenter celebrates something sweet in particular. Her sixth studio album Short n' Sweet, released on Aug. 23, gave the 25-year-old pop artist her first Billboard No. 1.
Carpenter's latest album topped the Billboard 200 chart with 362,000 album sales, surpassing Travis Scott's 2014 mixtape Days Before Rodeo, which debuted at No. 2.
Variety ranks Short n' Sweet as 2024's third-largest debut, behind Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter (407,000 sales) and Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department (2.61 million units).
The "Sharpest Tool" singer's chart dominance comes days after she made a cheeky reference to Nicki Minaj's 2018 No. 1 duel with Scott's Astroworld. "this one's for nicki," Carpenter posted on X on Thursday, Aug. 29.
Minaj said, “Shout out Sabrina Carpenter, shout out all the Sabrina Carpenter fans.” later that night. In 2018, the "Barbie World" singer, 41, complained that Billboard wouldn't let her include tour and merch revenue in her chart numbers like Scott did.
Travis shifted over 50K units. With no album redemption required,” she wrote on X. With no tour dates, etc. Spoke to him. He understands his CD isn't #1 this week.”
Minaj also attacked Drake and Scott's ex-girlfriend Kylie Jenner online. Minaj said "I put my blood sweat & tears in writing a dope album only for Travis Scott to have Kylie Jenner post a tour pass telling ppl to come see her & Stormi."
In her online diatribe, the rapper said women are "systemically blackballed out of their positions" without way to "fight back." Scott reissued his Days Before Rodeo mixtape on Sunday, Aug. 18, to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
