Taylor Swift wins artist of the year! The 34-year-old pop musician knocked out Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, Bad Bunny, Eminem, and SZA to win artist of the year at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 11.
Swift's latest win was announced during a commercial break at New York's UBS Arena. She dominated the year with 12 nominations, largely for "Fortnight," her Tortured Poets Department single with Post Malone.
The video for the smash song features Dead Poets Society's Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles.
Due to her milestone year and the black-and-white "Fortnight" video, Swift has won best collaboration, pop, song of the summer, director, and editing.
At the opening of the show, Swift thanked Malone, 29, for his efforts to the duet and utilized the "opportunity to thank and honor the people who worked so hard with me on this video."
"There is a very clear reason why Post Malone is everyone in music's favorite person to collaborate with," Swift adds. Because of your incredible talent. You're the most adaptable and humble."
Malone, who was "an absolute loss for words," praised his collaborator and "the amount of work and care and love that she puts into everything she does" on stage.
Swift has also danced along to Karol G and Katy Perry at the UBS Arena all night. She sang “Teenage Dream” with friend Suki Waterhouse before rocking to “E.T.” and “California Gurls.”
