Brewed black tea, apple cider, and maple syrup make this fall-flavored iced tea a refreshing treat.
Drink it on game day to wash down seven-layer dip and pigs in a blanket, or as a sweet, refreshing afternoon pick-me-up. Tips for making it.
Tea: Use any preferred tea bags for this iced tea recipe. Black tea like English Breakfast, Earl Grey, or Lipton works nicely. Choose decaf black tea or your favorite herbal blend for caffeine-free iced tea.
The cider offers a delicious apple flavor from cold apple cider. If you like bubbles, try sparkling cider. You can use hard liquor for an adult cocktail.
Maple syrup complements the apple cider and fresh apples in this drink. Additionally, it melts well into tea without grainy sugar. Use real maple syrup, not pancake syrup, for a warmer, more complex flavor.
3 black tea bags 1/4 c. pure maple syrup 1 thinly-sliced medium red apple 2-cup apple cider
Step 1: Boil 4 cups of water in a small pot over high heat. Pour boiling water into a big heatproof pitcher or container. Stir in tea bags and maple syrup. Steep 3–5 minutes, depending on flavor.
Step 2: Discard tea bags. Cool tea to room temperature, then chill until cold, 4–12 hours. Step 3: Combine apple slices and cider in a pitcher and stir before serving.
