Tyreek Hill wondered why police arrested him during a Sunday morning traffic incident a block from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
In his first statement following the Dolphins' win over the Jaguars, he called the incident “crazy” and couldn't explain why officials arrested him.
He told reporters he had “no idea” why. Passersby recorded Hill's contacts with cops outside the stadium after he was ticketed for reckless driving for speeding.
“I wasn’t disrespectful because my mom didn’t raise me that way,” Hill added. “I didn’t swear. No, I did not. Still trying to figure it out.”
Hills was shown on video with his wrists shackled behind his back and on his stomach on the ground. A policeman looked to approach him aggressively.
After the game, a reporter questioned Hill if a cop touched him when he was arrested. Hill said, “Yeah.”
One officer was placed on administrative duty, and Miami-Dade Police Department stated it was undertaking a “immediate review” of Hill's detention.
Hill remarked, “That should tell you everything you need to know,” about an officer being placed on administrative responsibilities after the event.
